WEG builds motors for the environments that destroy ordinary ones: high pressure washdown, caustic sanitizing chemicals, hazardous atmospheres and continuous duty. Washdown motors
WEG’s ultimate stainless steel waterproof motor, and the line we lead with for severe washdown duty. Extreme environment testing has shown it delivering 75% more cycles than other brands, which is the difference between a scheduled motor change and an unscheduled line stop.
A patented three stage sealing system, built from a custom lip seal, a stainless steel shaft slinger and a severe duty check seal, combines with premium SprayGuard™ encapsulated windings, O-rings on both endshields, a sealed conduit box and a breather vent that keeps oil and water out. Strategically located drains with stainless screws sit at the lowest point of the C-face so water never accumulates.

Washdown motors
The Shark is built for the most demanding sanitary requirements. Its hygienic, smooth and rounded construction avoids dirt accumulation and simplifies cleaning, and the special feet design prevents residue buildup while allowing 360 degree rotation for flexible installation.
The sealing system uses a stainless steel slinger, O-rings, seals and double sealed bearings to keep moisture and contaminants out. An internally painted stator and rotor add corrosion resistance and extend motor life. It is designed for variable frequency drive operation with enhanced wire spike resistance, with Class H insulation and an optional shaft grounding ring available.

Variable frequency drives
The drive we pair with WEG washdown motors. The CFW500 is available in a NEMA 4X (IP66) washdown enclosure, with or without a disconnect switch, rated for indoor and outdoor installation including direct sunlight. Plug and play option modules make commissioning fast, which is why it suits OEMs, integrators and panel builders as well as end users.
With Generation-2, the CFW500 offers more features in the same footprint as the original drives, and the IP20-G2 power range now extends to 75HP at 230VAC and 175HP at 460VAC.

General purpose motors
The W22 is WEG’s general purpose three-phase line, designed to cut energy consumption while lowering noise, vibration and cost of ownership. It comes in three versions, High Efficiency, NEMA Premium Efficiency and Super Premium Efficiency, each designed to exceed the requirements of NEMA MG 1-2009. Depending on version, the W22 can reduce energy losses by between 10% and 50% compared with other typical motors.
The frame is FC-200 cast iron for mechanical strength in critical applications, with cooling fins designed to minimize the accumulation of liquids and dust on the motor. The line was developed with finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics specifically to bring down noise and vibration.

Hazardous location motors
WEG explosion proof motors are suitable for applications requiring UL or CSA certification for hazardous locations. Every motor is thermally protected with thermostats and submitted to routine factory testing to confirm it meets the required specifications, and the line is designed to meet or exceed North American energy efficiency requirements.

A fractional explosion proof line covers 1/3 to 2 HP in single and three-phase, IP55, rated Class I Groups C and D and Class II Groups E, F and G at T3B.
Typical applications: petrochemical, flour and feed mills, grain elevators, fans, pumps, blowers, material handling equipment, and anywhere else a UL or CSA listed hazardous location motor is required.
Washdown motors
The general purpose washdown option. HydroWash is designed for long service life in plants that need constant hygiene through high pressure water jets and chemical cleaning, without the stainless steel price tag.
Specifications
Factory options include 316 stainless shaft, space heaters, thermal protection, cable glands, an SGR shaft grounding ring for inverter use, and a drip cover.
Poultry processing motors
Built for one job. The PickerPlus withstands frequent sanitizing with high pressure sprays and caustic fluids, and is designed to handle the extreme side loading typical of feather pickers, with oversized double row drive end bearings to take the tension.
A sealed top mounted conduit box prevents water accumulation at the leads and reduces the risk of lead wire failure, with a potted lead wire entrance and a watertight heat shrink lead splice kit. The patented breather vent and flared shell design eliminate the need for drain plugs.
